Qureshi claims highest power theft takes place in Punjab

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has claimed that highest power theft is taking place in Punjab, but arrests are being made only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) – ARY News reports.

Talking to media after a party meeting here on Saturday, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that approximately 87,000 cases of power theft were registered in Punjab and the highest amount of electricity theft is also taking place here, but actions are only being taken in KP.

Commenting on military and ministers' statements on it, Qureshi told that the armed forces of Pakistan are guarantor of the national defence, and if the statements of some ministers are being criticized, then they should review their statements.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi however, mentioned that PTI will not support any act in contrast with the constitution.

Speaking about Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO), the PTI leader said that the powers given to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) under this ordinance are feared to be misused, yet the Government is trying to get the bill approved by a joint session of the Parliament.
