LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) deputy chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has demanded the Government to hold the Local Body (LB) elections under the supervision of Judiciary. He warned that if the polls were not held transparently then it is feared that the people will take to the streets this time – ARY News reports.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Qureshi said that despite of restrictions, transfers and appointments are being made in Punjab on older dates and the code of conduct of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is being torn apart into rags.
He warned that if the LB polls were not held fairly then the Punjab Government is also feared to be removed. He added that if the provincial government did not take any measures for insuring transparency then the people will resort to protests out on the streets and the government will itself be responsible for the consequences.
The PTI leader stated that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) needs not to be afraid of PTI's anti-inflation rally in Umer Kot on January 6, for this protest is not against the Sindh Government.
