Radd-ul-Fasaad Operation: Major terror plot foiled in Gujrat

RAWALPINDI: Dozens of suspects arrested by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in crackdown against terrorists under countrywide ‘Radd-ul-Fasaad’ operation, ARY News reported.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled major terror plot in Gujrat. On an intelligence tip-off, CTD personnel conducted an operation in Kunjah area of Gujrat, five alleged terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire while three others fled from the spot.

Police sources confirmed that the terrorists had taken shelter in a house from where huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered during the operation.

The CTD spokesperson said that the suspects were members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and wanted to target key installations in Gujrat and Kharian.

An alleged terrorist was arrested from Battagram area of district Charsadda in a joint raid by police and security forces. According to District Police Officer (DPO) two suicide jackets were also recovered from his possession.

In joint search operation by Intelligence agencies and police, 24 houses were searched and identification of 31 people verified through Biometric device in Pir Mehal city of Punjab.

Meanwhile, two suspected people including a foreign national were taken into custody by LEAs in search operations at different areas of Rawalpindi. An unregistered bike from their possession also recovered.

In house to house search operation in Islamabad, security forces arrested six suspects by recovering weapons and liquor from their possession.

 

Moreover, a gangster among four suspects was arrested in a late night raid by police in Karachi.

Furthermore, 18 suspected miscreants including two Afghan nationals were arrested by LEAs in Lahore.

While in a separate raid at a house in Jawad Town of Attock, police arrested five suspected people by recovering Jet fighter spare parts.
