Railways acquire jammers against terrorist plots, says Rafiq

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafiq has said that Pakistan Railways (PR) has acquired jammers for preventing blasts and other terrorist activities in passenger trains – ARY News reports.

According to details, Khwaja Saad Rafiq chaired a high level meeting here at the Railways Head Quarters and approved the security plan aimed at preventing passenger trains from possible terrorist activities.

It was decided at the meeting that the passenger trains will be monitored through choppers in sensitive areas, whilst the coordination of Railways Police with the intelligence agencies (IAs) will be strengthened and the patrolling will also be enhanced.

Officials at the meeting also agreed upon recruiting more individuals in the Railways Police for improving its capabilities.

A few days earlier, blasts in Rajanpur and Karachi, targeting passenger trains had claimed several lives, whereas the movement of trains was also affected severely.
