TOP NEWS

According to details, a local court of Lahore resumed the hearing of a case pertaining to the arrest of ARY News reporters. Pakistan Railways once again resorted to the employment of different tactics to prolong the case.

The counsel of railways stated before the court that he is handed this case today and requires time for preparation.

At which, the court asked him to prepare his arguments by 2 pm in the afternoon, yet he continued requesting the court to adjourn the hearing.

The lawyer of ARY News, Amir Saeed told the court that Pakistan Railways is trying to cause a delay upon the directives of Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique.

Safdar Shaheen Pirzada Advocate said that it has never been witnessed that the government asked to postpone the hearing.

Aftab Bajwa Advocate said that the sections under which a case was registered against ARY News reporters are all bailable.

At this, the court remarked that it seems that the reporters were not intended to commit a crime; they rather wanted to expose an illegal practice and reform it.

The court granted a day’s time to the counsels of Pakistan Railways to complete their arguments regarding the case and adjourned the hearing.
