Railways to recruit ex-army men for tracks' safety: Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique has said that Pakistan Railways (PR) will be recruiting retired military personnel to insure the safety of the railway tracks – ARY News reports.

Talking to media here on Wednesday, Saad Rafique told that due to low man power of the railways police, former military personnel will be recruited and they will be charged with patrolling along and securing the railway tracks in sensitive areas.

He told that railways has asked the Federal Government for Rs 1 billion for the security of tracks and a summary has also been forwarded suggesting increase in the salaries of railways policemen up to that of provincial police personnel.

Saad told that the summary recommended equal pay scale for railways policemen within a span of four years.
