Rain-hit Karachi descends into darkness

Showers lashed different parts of Sindh including Karachi, Tharparkar and Mithi on Friday-Saturday night. It should be noted that the Meteorological Department had predicted showers throughout the province after Cyclone Nilofar subsided to storm.

Power supply to most areas of Karachi was suspended due to the tripping of the feeders. The citizens were facing severe problems due to the power outages.

Prolonged power breakdowns are frequent in the country after rains.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan took notice of the power outages in the metropolis and ordered K-Electric to immediately restore electricity in the affected areas.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon expressed his anger on the power company over the outages in the metropolis and said that the provincial government will not tolerate any negligence in restoration of electricity.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Raabta Committee expressed its concerns over the suspension of power to many parts of Karachi and stated that it is disappointing that measures were not taken despite the predictions of shower in the city.
