ISLAMABAD: The New Islamabad International Airport touted as ‘state of the art’ by former government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was exposed after a heavy rainfall turned the sight of an airport into a pond.

Massive construction flaws were revealed in the newly-inaugurated airport as the roofs started dripping and, HR and Briefing area along with passenger lounge were spotted flooding with rain water.

After 13 years of construction, the new airport could not even shelter the passengers and their luggage from the rainfall. The passengers were reported to find dry places during the rain inside the recently-furnished structure.

It is worth mentioning here that former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated the New Islamabad Airport on May 1, 2018. More than Rs100 billion were spent on this project and its construction was started in April 2007.
