ISLAMABAD: At least forty-nine people have been killed and 176 others injured in rain related incidents across the country during current spell of heavy downpour, said National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday.
According to the NDMA report released, here today, so far 49 deaths and 176 injuries to people have been reported, whereas 117 houses have so far been damaged as torrential rain continued to play havoc across the country.
15 people were killed in Punjab and 14 lost their lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP), the NDMA report read.
The report also shows damages to at least 52 houses in Balochistan.
More widespread dust-thunderstorm and rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, Sibi, Kalat, Sukkur, Larkana divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Beside causing the human and property damages, the recent rain has also badly affected wheat and other crops across the country and created jeopardy for the farmers.
In Peshawar, the Rescue-1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an alert about heavy rain and storm in the province during the next 48 hours.
The people were advised to contact the helpline of Rescue 1122 in case of any unforeseen situation amid heavy rains.
