ISLAMABAD: Justice (R) Rana Bhagwan Das has been decided to be made the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan – ARY News reports.
Sources told that the Government and the Opposition on Friday agreed upon the name of Justice (R) Rana Bhagwan Das as the new CEC of Pakistan.
A consultation on the matter is underway between the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif and the Opposition Leader, Khursheed Shah.
However, the official announcement of the decision has not been made so far, it is expected is the next few days.
The post of the CEC fell vacant after the resignation of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jeelani.
He resigned from the post for being named as the Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan.
