Rana says impossible to hold LB polls on Jan. 30 after LHC verdict
LAHORE: Minister for Law and Local Bodies Punjab, Rana Sanaullah has said that after the high court's verdict against the Local Body (LB) delimitations, it has not been possible to hold the LB polls on January 30 – ARY News reports.
He stated that the provincial government respects the decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) and an appeal shall not be filed in the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the high court's decision; however it has not been possible now to hold the polls on 30th January.
The Provincial Minister added that the LB elections can possibly be conducted on another date.
Earlier today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had declared the delimitations in Punjab for the Local Body (LB) elections as illegal, while it had also declared the clauses 8 and 9 of the Local Government Act as null and void.
