Rangers conduct 1161 raids in Karachi operation

ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry has informed the National Assembly on Friday that the paramilitary Rangers conducted 1161 targeted raids in the ongoing operation in Karachi. 

Minister of State for Interior Balighur Rehman during the question hour told the house that the police in the crackdown against criminals in Karachi arrested 222 murderers and 89 terror suspects. 

The lower house was informed on Friday that 12543 arrests have been made by Sindh Rangers and Police during the ongoing operation. The state minister said that Karachi police conducted 8230 raids in different areas of the provincial capital during the last three months‚ killing 83 criminals in different encounters. A larger cache of arms and ammunition as well as drugs were recovered in raids.

The Minister of State said that all unverified SIMs in Karachi have been blocked and cellular companies have initiated biometric verification system for issuance of SIMs.
