Rangers soldier sent on physical remand in murder case

KARACHI: A sessions’ court in Karachi has sent Rangers man in police custody on a four-day physical remand for killing another soldier over personal dispute.

The court hearing a murder case of paramilitary officer Mashooq Ali who was gunned down by his colleague in a broad daylight over personal dispute.

Accused Murtaza Ali was presented in the court amid strict security.

The court also reserved its verdict and adjourned the hearing.

The firing incident occurred on Oct 23 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area  within the remits of Sharah-e-Faisal Police Station. The deceased personnel was identified as Mashooq Ali. He suffered three bullets shot in the chest and died on the way to hospital.

Police later arrested the Rangers official, Murtaza Ali, who shot dead his colleague.

A spokesman for Jinnah Hospital said that the Rangers official was pronounced dead at 6.17 AM on arrival at the hospital
