KARACHI: Rangers personnel on Monday raided a “criminal hideout” in Karachi’s Urdu Bazar in Saddar and arrested two suspected criminals, ARY News reported.
According to Rangers spokesman, a Rangers’ contingent raided a building in Urdu Bazaar on a tip off that some criminals are using it as a hideout. As the raiding party reached the spot, the criminals threw at least two hand grenades upon them, injuring two of the paramilitary force’s men.
A passerby was also injured in the grenade attack.
It is pertinent to note here that just today, the Interior Ministry issued notification regarding the extension in powers and stay of Rangers in Sindh.
The extension has been given under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. According to the notification, the powers have been extended for another 90 days.
The ministry has rejected the proposal of the provincial government regarding extension in the powers under certain conditions and the recommendations of the provincial government have also not been made part of the notification.
