MUZAFFARGARH: A rape victim, who set herself on fire in Muzaffargarh, after her alleged rapist was granted bail by a court, succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Friday.
Aamna succumbed to her injuries in hospital this morning after her act of self-immolation in Muzaffargarh before a police station over the police report, which facilitate the alleged rapist to get bail from local court. Hospital sources said the girl had sustained 80 per cent burns.
The main accused in the rape incident was arrested again today. The investigating officer of the case has also been also arrested.
Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has taken suo motu notice of the incident. He has sought a report from District Police Officer Muzaffargarh and summoned Punjab Police chief on March 17.
"What justice the government of Punjab was providing to its people," Chief Justice Jillani said in his remarks.
