Four boys arrested for raping, blackmailing teenager in Karachi
KARACHI: In a shocking case, “Sar-e-Aam” team led by host Iqrar-ul-Hassan nabbed at least four boys belonging to apparently well-to-do families for raping and blackmailing a 13-year old girl in Karachi, ARY News reported on Friday.

The boys namely Usama, Muzammil, Umair and Amir are accused of repeatedly raping, filming the ghastly act and blackmailing a teenage girl. The accused also tortured the victim for not “obeying” them and demanding deletion of the video.
HOW IT ALL STARTED?
The victim claimed that about a month ago, she received a text message from some unknown number. As she demanded from the sender to introduce himself, the person said that he knows her and has some pictures of her which can be doctored into objectionable images and be circulated on internet. (video below)
“I never take pictures with my cellphone camera and I couldn’t understand as to how someone can get hold of my pictures,” said the victim.
Afraid of sharing the message with her parents, the girl, in her simplicity, tried to approach the boys “to check as to what kind of pictures they have” but the boys abducted her and took her to a flat where they raped her and recorded the ghastly act on their cellphone camera.
The video was then distributed amongst their friends who also raped her.
HOW WERE THEY NABBED
After about a month of rape, torture and blackmailing, the girl gathered the courage to inform her father about what she is going through.
Though deeply pained and grieved at what her daughter went through, the angry father did not blame his daughter for what happened and dealt with the situation bravely.
He approached team Sar-e-Aam and even asked Iqrar-ul-Hassan to get him on the show and let him share his story so to set an example for other parents.
Sar-e-Aam team managed to gather all the four culprits at one place and then nabbed them to hand them over to the police.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan lauded the girl’s father for showing exemplary courage while dealing with such a sensitive issue without resorting to victim-blaming or asking her daughter to remain silent like other parents who deal with such situations.
He also asked the girl’s family and all victims of sexual assault to remember that “none can take their honour away” and that the phrase “Izzat lut gayii” is wrong. In fact, parents and victims who survive such incidents and fight for justice are the most honourable part of a society.
