According to details, the MQM leader reached Karachi from Dubai via an international airline. Raza Haroon did not stop to speak to media personnel but departed from the airport in a vehicle. A driver and a personal friend accompanied him as his vehicle drove away from the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport.

Haroon is being touted to be the next MQM member who will deflect from the party and join Mustafa Kamal’s group of dissidents. Kamal will hold a joint press conference today at 03:00 pm and it is expected that Haroon will join him and renounce his affiliation with MQM publicly.

Raza Haroon was considered an integral member of the MQM and also held the portfolio of the provincial minister for Information Technology. For the past couple of years, he had distanced himself from the party and was said to be in United Kingdom. Though he did not criticise the party in public and remained a member of MQM, he had become relatively inactive.

His arrival comes a few weeks after former mayor of Karachi and ex MQM leader Mustafa Kamal held a press conference and slammed MQM chief Altaf Hussain. In his presser, Kamal alleged Altaf had contacts with Indian intelligence agency RAW and that he was the reason for excessive killings in Karachi. Anees Qaimkhani, Dr Sagheer Ahmad, Iftikhar Alam and Waseem Aftab are some of the dissidents who have joined hands with Mustafa Kamal and led the tirade against Altaf Hussain.
