GENEVA: A government delegation will leave for Switzerland today (Wednesday) to hold talks with the Swiss authorities to bring back money stashed by Pakistanis in the European country, ARY News reported.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability, Shahzad Akbar, talking to ARY News, said over Rs 700 billion from Pakistan were kept in 10 countries, and the government would strive to bring them back.
He said the government had acquired details from some of the countries and subsequently talks would be held to retrieve the looted money.
“We are particularly focused on Britain, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates, where most of the capital is stashed”, he added.

He said an agreement was mandatory with the Swiss authorities that would allow Pakistan to access information the government was looking for. “We have to sign an agreement with the Swiss government to keep track on money laundering”, he informed.
He said the government was also going to ink an accord with Malaysia, “and no information regarding illegal transfer of money could be concealed anymore,” he added.
On Sep 5, the government had established a task force to bring back money illegally shifted abroad from Pakistan.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said a unit had been established at the PM House for coordination in measures for bringing back looted money from abroad.
The unit comprises officials from National Accountability Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency, he had said while briefing about the unit.
