LAHORE: “Few people are doing their politics under the guise of religion,” claimed Information Minister during a ceremony at Lahore.

Lashing out at parties who are linked with the religion based politics, Fawad Chaudhry said, “these people have impersonated under the cloak of religion and to fulfill their own objectives, they create a new issue every week.”

Referring to the aftermath of a Supreme Court verdict acquitting Asia Bibi, the Minister said, some people declared the apex court’s decision wrong even without reading it.

The countrywide chaos which followed the announcement of a verdict in Blasphemy case, “it was not a crisis of the government, or the state, but a societal crisis. Pakistan is not facing a political crisis, it is facing an ideological crisis,” said the federal Minister.

“An ideological conflict is not fought with weapons in hand, but on the basis of logic or arguments,” he added.

He further underscored the need to contain those people who were not doing any service to the nation and religion. The incumbent government aims to work with the religious leadership side by side, the Minister stated.

For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal was being observed on a state level, said Chaudhry while announcing that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the International Khatam-e-Nabuwat conference which will be graced by renowned scholars from across the world.
