Remembering Ch. Aslam on his 1st Death Anniversary
The stalwart who was in the front-line to end terrorism in Karachi Chaudhry Aslam was killed on 9th January 2014 in a powerful suicide attack on Lyari Express Highway. The blast that destroyed the vehicle also killed his guard and driver.
The convoy of one of the most popular names of Karachi police force SP (CID) Chaudhry Aslam was targeted near Essa Nagri by a suicide bomber. The intensity of bomb was so high that it destroyed his vehicle and instantly killed his driver and gunmen on the spot. Ch. Aslam who got severely injured was immediately taken to the hospital but he could not resist to the injuries and died, while 14 others including some police officials also got wounded in that fatal attack.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Pakistan TTP took the responsibility of the ghastly incident and the first ever FIR was launched against them. Soon after the attack evidences about the assailant were found and he was recognized as 26-year-old Naeem Ullah from tribal areas of Pakistan.
The man who joined police force as Aslam Khan soon became famous as Chaudhry Aslam for his sturdy style. This was not the first time when this tiger of Karachi police was attacked by militants, he had survived five unsuccessful fatal attacks even his house was attacked with a bomb by an outlawed Al-Mukhtar militant group. This last attack that took his life was his last call from the duty according to his wife.
Sindh police has organized a special event today to pay tribute to their brave and courageous officer which will be attended by civil society and senior police authorities.
