Remembering the Icon: Moin Akhtar

The King of Urdu comedy, a remarkable actor,master of parody, ace director, artist, producer and the man who played more than 400 characters in his play ‘Loose Talk’,  words can never be enough to define late  Moin Akhtar. Today marks the birthday of that only legend in the country who started his career  by impersonating American president John F Kennedy’s speech in its original voice at a very young age of sixteen.

Be it acting, stage play, hosting or anything Moin Akhtar mastered all the genres and his love for art earn him enough accolades not from the countrynot but from across the border also. He even had the honor to share hosting stage stars like Dilip Kumar, Madhuri Dixit and Lata Mangeshkar.  From stand-up comedy in ‘Bakra Qiston Per’ to the legendary performance in ‘Half Plate’ nobody can ever match the class of this legend.Two of his most famous characters that will live forever are Miss Rozi and Manzoor Danawala.

He was so versatile and the true face of comedy in Pakistan that with him ended the era of outclass mimicry in the country as he himself was the era. This marvel of Almighty  died due to coronary failure in Karachi on 22nd April 2011 in Karachi.
