The petitioner in his plea said that the Supreme Court in Karachi suo moto case had imposed ban on transfers and postings in Sindh Police. The provincial government was removing the Sindh Police chief to attain its political objectives.

Iqbal Mehmood was posted as the new I.G. Sindh six months ago but the province has handed over his services to the centre recently and opted for Fayyaz Laghari, a former police chief, as the new head of the Sindh Police department.
