KARACHI: A report on the targeted operations in Karachi was presented during a session of the Sindh Assembly here in Karachi on Friday (today), ARY News reports.
The session was chaired by Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sikandar Mendro in statement in the house said that 15,871 suspects were arrested in the raids during the operations whereas 131 criminals were gunned down by Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) in encounters.
The provincial minister further added that the challan of 8,222 suspects were submitted in the court whereas 144 were found guilty.
Provincial Assembly members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) walked out of Sindh Assembly and said that their party workers are being extra judicially killed. Shehryar Mehr, a member of the house, said that extortion cases in Interior Sindh have intensified.
Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon ensured the Sindh Assembly that the government will take notice of the complaints of the opposition members.
