Rescuers found body of drowned fisherman near Keti Bandar

KARACHI: The rescue sources have confirmed retrieving dead body of a fisherman drowned in the sea near Ibrahim Hyderi here, ARY News reported on Thursday.

A fishing boat ‘Al-Habib’ left for fishing in the sea three days’ ago, with eight fishermen on-board, capsized in the open sea due to the rough stormy weather.

A helicopter of the Edhi Foundation traced the drowned boat and the divers of the rescue organization saved seven stranded fishermen of the boat, Edhi sources said.

The dead body of the drowned fisherman, named Saleem, was found near the Keti Bandar coast, rescue sources added.

A recent dust storm across the Sindh coastal belt including Karachi caused heavy losses of life and property across the region.

It was reported that due the stormy winds at least 13 boats of the fishermen capsized in the sea.

Earlier, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) said that it rescued 248 stranded fishermen and eight boats from open sea amid rough weather.

According to the PMSA spokesperson, the rescue operation of the agency was underway to bring back the stranded fishermen to the shores as the weather turned rough after gusty winds and country-wide rainfall.

As many as 248 fishermen, who went into open sea for the hunt have been rescued along with their eight boats, the PMSA spokesperson said.
