No respite in Karachi killings; seven more slain

KARACHI: At least seven people were killed in the provincial capital despite ongoing targeted raids and operations against criminal elements, ARY News reported.

According to police, three people fell prey to gunmen’s firing in Malir-15 area. The incident stirred panic in the area and people rushed towards their places to take shelter. Shortly after the firing, police reached the spot and cordoned off the spot and began further investigation.

In another incident, a man identified as Abdul Samad was shot dead by unknown assailants in Saddar area. Samad was a trader by profession. Nearby traders at Regal Chowk protested against the killing of Samad.

Separately, two people were gunned down in Khadda Market, Lyari by unidentified armed men.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, in their ongoing operation, arrested a man disguised as police officer for his involvement in collection of extortion in Saeedabad area.

West Zone Police also apprehended at least 20 suspects in their different raids and sent them to jail for further interrogation.

Vehicles of various calibers were recovered from the possession of arrested suspects.

The ongoing targeted raids have failed to ensure peace across the city as scores of people are being killed in correspondence of law enforcers’ action.
