Rise in pulses production saved $47.6bn

ISLAMABAD: The drastic increase in pulses production of the country has saved about $47.6 billion allotted for its import, ARY News reported.

The data revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed that country imported the pulses of $75.129 billion during July-September 2013-14 against the estimated amount of Rs.122.783 billion for the given period of time.

The pulses production of the country has been increased by 10 metric-tons during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, PBS stated.

The data stated that 33 per cent decline has been observed in the pulses export during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

Pakistan exported 0.116 million metric-tons of pulses during the first quarter of current fiscal year against the 0.173 million metric-tons during the time period under review.
