Two alleged robbers shot dead in Multan ‘shootout’

MULTAN: Two suspected robbers were shot dead in a shootout with police personnel in Multan on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the shootout took place within the jurisdiction of Jalalpur Pirwala police station when the robbers opened fire on a police team after it signaled them to stop. When the police personnel retaliated, two armed suspects were killed.

The killed robbers were later identified as Aijaz and Aslam and were wanted in several criminal cases, said the police.

Last month, the police claimed to have gunned a dacoit carrying Rs1 million bounty in a shootout near Shujabad.

The robber was identified as Yousaf alias Shakil Dasti alias Shakila alias Kaila. The police had recovered a motorcycle, a Kalashnikov and six bullets from the scene.

He was required to the police in several cases of terrorism, murder and robbery.
