SA beats India to give Kallis a perfect farewell
DURBAN: South Africa overwhelmed India by 10 wickets in second Test at Kingsmead, Durban winning the two-test match series by 1-0, ARY News reported.
India started the day at 68-2, South African seamer Dale Steyn provided two early breakthroughs by removing two best Indian batsmen, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, in a fierce spell of fast bowling. Spinner Robin Peterson bowled beautifully and took four wickets. He stuck twice in an over to dismiss MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.
India scored 223 runs in the second inning setting the target of 58 runs for the Proteas.
Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer with 96 runs. He kept out the hostile South African quicks, again showcasing his temperament showing that he had that vital quality for a No. 6.
South Africa chasing 58 runs adopted the aggressive approach as their openers knocked off the 59 for victory in less than 12 overs to bring South Africa home.
The South African victory provided one of the perfect end to the greatest player SA ever produced, Jacques Kallis. South African all rounder scored his farewell century on the fourth day making the position of Proteas strengthen in the Test. Kallis will retire satisfied at having being an integral part of a South Africa side who are the undisputed No. 1 in Tests.
