KARACHI: Sindh Assembly has passed a resolution expressing reservations over the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) regarding child marriage and DNA test, ARY News reports.
The provincial legislature's session was chaired by Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.
Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, a member of Pakistan Muslim Leaegue-Functional, while moving the resolution in the house said that the CII has not demonstrated responsibility in its recommendations over the child marriage, second marriage and the DNA test. She said even driving licence and national identity card could not be issued for the people below 18 years of age. But for marriage fixation of the age limit is being opposed.
Sindh Minister of Education Nisar Khuhro has said that Islam not permits marriage without consent.
PML-N member Irfanullah Marwat opposed the CII recommendation with regard to DNA testing.
