SA U-19 beats Australia to book final berth against Pakistan

DUBAI: With the Australia’s Under-19s defeat from the hands of South Africa Under-19s on Wednesday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Big Three is now out of race for ICC Under-19 World Cup title, ARY News reported.

South Africa U-19 crushed Australia with a comprehensive victory of 80 runs booking their berth in final against Pakistan U-19.

South Africa U-19 decided to bat first, their innings can be described in of two halves. Initially there was a century opening stand between captain Aiden Markram(45) and Clyde Fortuin(74) setting the momentum of the game for SA to post compatible target of above 250.

In the second half Australian spinners did well to pull them back and restrict them to a par score of 230 in the second semi-final. 

Late hitting by South African Yaseen Valli, who scored 31 off 36 balls, took South Africa to a very defendable score of 230.

Australia’s chase was disappointing as their batting lineup collapsed losing semi final in a one-sided contest.

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada took six wickets shattering the opponents, his six-wicket haul in the semi-final was the standout bowling performance till date in the tournament.

Rabada bowled with pace touching 90mph, powered South Africa Under-19s to their first World Cup final since 2008.

The final between Pakistan and South Africa will be played on March 1 at Dubai International Stadium.
