LAHORE: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday slammed the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), probing money trail and offshore properties of the Sharif family, and said the JIT’s job was fact-finding and not interrogation, ARY News reported.

“The JIT members should mull over whether they are finding facts or only catching fish,” he said while addressing workers of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in Lahore.

Expressing reservations over the JIT, he said he was ready to respect courts decisions; however courts should also listen to their reservations.

He said challenges confronting the country can only be overcome through continuity of the democratic process.

Saad said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N have given sacrifices for restoration of judiciary.

He said the country was on the path of prosperity and peace due to the democratic system and credit for it went to Nawaz Sharif who developed consensus on all issues.

“It is time to adopt better democratic attitude as stronger democracy will help discourage anti-democratic forces,” he said.

The railways minister said that political parties should also bring democracy within the parties and turncoats should be turned down like the PML-N which has not given the positions to such politicians in policy making.

He exalted former chief of army staff general (Retired) Raheel Sharif for playing an important role in strengthening of democracy in the country.

The railways minister said that enemies of Pakistan had become upset with launch of the mega project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said that no one will be allowed to hatch conspiracies against the current leadership of the country and mega development projects being completed across the country.
