Sabri Murder: Owner of motorbike used in the attack arrested

KARACHI: Police on Thursday night claim to have arrested the owner of the motorbike that was allegedly used in the gun attack that killed famous qawwal Amjad Sabri in the city on June 22 in Ramazan.

The important arrest was made last night during a search operation in Karachi what the police described as a major breakthrough in Sabri murder probe.

According to sources, law enforcement agencies raided a house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the metropolis and picked up the suspect for further investigation.


The identification of the suspect has been kept secret due to the sensitive nature of the high-profile case, said sources.

It has been revealed, however, that the suspect is associated with the profession of construction.

Amjad Sabri was gunned down in broad daylight in Liaquatabad area of Karachi when he was his way along with a companion to a TV channel for participating in its Ramazan transmission.

He was heading to Hasan Square in his car when gunmen riding on a motorbike attacked him. The assailants fired five shots, while one that hit Sabri’s head took his life.

Inspector General (IG) of Sindh police A.D. Khawaja had already claimed that police were close to the killers of Amjad Sabri.
