ISLAMABAD: Continuing with his anti-judiciary rhetoric, ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday he knew the court will decide against him and that decision is not against him but the development of the country.

While interacting with PML-N workers at the Punjab House, Sharif said he will not leave the country, but stay put and take in his stride whatever the circumstance may be.

He said those who ousted him for being dishonest were not even sadiq and ameen (truthful and trustworthy), and he was deposed before the completion of his term as prime minister.

Sharif said he will vigorously fight his legal and political fight. Someone should also question those who demanded the Sharif family’s accountability as to what service they have done to the country, he said.

He said he couldn’t be deterred by the circumstances and his workers were his asset.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with daughter Maryam Nawaz appeared today before an accountability court for the hearing into corruption references filed against them by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

After the court suspended the proceedings until 1:00pm, he arrived at the Punjab House to meet his party leaders and workers.

As Judge Muhammad Bashir resumed the hearing on Monday, Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris pleaded that the Islamabad High Court has to announce its verdict today on a petition pertaining to the merger of three references into one and sought the trial court to adjourn the hearing until the pronouncement of the verdict.

The judge, thus, allowed his plea and adjourned the hearing till 1:00 pm.
