Sahiwal headmistress tortures minor student for using her toilet
SAHIWAL: A public school headmistress in Sahiwal district allegedly tortured a student for using her toilet in an emergency.
The incident occurred on Thursday at the Government Girls Middle School in a village near Harappa. The girl named Iram Shehzadi, aged six, was a student of Class II.
She was admitted to the DHQ Hospital Sahiwal in a critical condition where she received 10 stitches to her private organs.
The young girl wanted to use a toilet at school and in urgency used the headmistress’s toilet as the other washrooms were occupied. When she came out, the headmistress, Farkhanda Batool, saw her and started slapping her.
According to eye-witnesses, the headmistress pushed and shoved the girl who hit a cement wall and steps and started bleeding. The headmistress took the girl to her room and locked the school’s main gate.
Another witness said that later the headmistress took Shahzadi to her cousin’s house in the village and attempted to stop the bleeding.
The girl’s parents found out about the incident after two hours, and took their daughter to a private hospital where doctors examined her and gave her ten stitches.
The girl’s family has claimed that the police refused to register a case against the headmistress and did not even accept the application for the registration of the case.
Her mother Sakeena Bibi said that that the medical superintendent of DHQ teaching hospital conducted a medical examination of her daughter that confirmed critical injuries to her private parts.
She alleged that the headmistress’ family were pressurising them against reporting the incident to the authorities rather than apologising to them.
The parents demanded a departmental inquiry from the education chief executive officer and registration of a criminal case against the headmistress.
