Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit were among the most loved onscreen couples of all time with movies like Saajan (1991) and Khalnayak (1993) becoming blockbusters.

The actors were also rumoured to be in a relationship until SanjayDutt got embroiled in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. It’s been a long time since both were seen in a film together.

Finally, we will get to see them back on the big screen, after 21 years, with Kalank. The movie is being helmed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

Kalank is backed by a stellar star cast including Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kunal Kemmu and Hiten Tejwani.

There were rumours that Sanjay and Madhuri will not be having any scenes together. However, Indian daily Mumbai Mirror reported that the co-stars shot their portions together last week at Chitrakoot Grounds in Mumbai.

A source shared that Sanjay and Madhuri shot for some dramatic scenes along with Varun and Alia. While Varun wrapped up in two days, Alia was present for a day after which she headed to Bulgaria to resume shooting for film Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor.

“Sanjay and Madhuri shot a couple of dramatic sequences together over three days with co-stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt,” a source from the film’s team revealed.

According to the source, there was no awkwardness between the former co-stars and the scenes went off smoothly.

Madhuri is scheduled to shoot her song choreographed by Saroj Khan and Remo D’souza from September 5 to 7, while Sanjay is yet to wrap up his portions as well, added the source.

The source further informed that all major scenes will be completed by the month-end, and that the shooting is expected to wrap by end of November.

Madhuri was brought in place of Sridevi after the latter’s untimely demise in February.
