Senate chairman meets Zardari, thanks PPP for support

KARACHI: Chairman Senate Mir Sadiq Sanjrani called Pakistan People’s Party (PP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House on Saturday evening.

PPP’s candidate for Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Sherry Rehman, Jan Jamali, Senator Khoda Babar and others were also present during the meeting.

The newly-elected Senate Chairman Mir Sadiq Sanjrani thanked President Asif Ali Zardari for his party’s support in his election adding that people of Balochistan were grateful to PPP for always leading the struggle for the genuine rights of the province’s masses.

“President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated him on his election as Chairman Senate and assured that PPP will always remain in the forefront in people of Balochistan’s quest for development under a democratic system,” reads a statement issued by the party.

Sadiq Sanjrani was sworn in as Senate chairman on March 12. An Independent senator, Sanjrani managed to take the coveted slot with the support of PPP, PTI and other opposition parties.
