LAHORE: A Lahore court on Friday acquitted ARY News’ ‘Sar-e-Aam’ team in an ‘arms smuggling’ case registered by Pakistan Railways after a sting operation led by Iqrar-ul-Hassan exposed corruption in its freight transportation department, ARY News reported.

Back in 2014, “Sar-e-Aam” team had exposed railways employees as it dispatched some weapons and explosives to Lahore via railways after bribing the officials, which were successfully delivered.

Rather than lauding the ‘Sar-e-Aam team’, an ‘arms smuggling’ case was registered against Iqrar-ul-Hassan and ‘Sar-e-Aam’ team on Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique’s orders.

However, after more than three years of appearances by Sar-e-Aam team and its lawyer, a district and sessions judge Ramzan Dhudi ordered the acquittal of the whole team due to “lack of evidence”.

As Iqrar-ul-Hassan announced the news of landmark judgement on ARY News, he also thanked the team’s counsel Nasir Khan advocate and the show’s viewers for praying for the team.

Here is the video of the 2014 sting operation.
