Sartaj Aziz, Sushma Swaraj meet over breakfast ahead of bilateral talks

The two dignitaries will be holding bilateral talks for the first time after the  Pathankot terror attack. According to Indian media, the terror strike on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot on January 2 is likely to feature during the talks.

Aziz is also expected to extend an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the SAARC summit, to be hosted by Pakistan later this year.Ms Swaraj is expected to prompt Pakistan to take strong action against those involved in the attack, in which four terrorists and six army jawans were killed.

Swaraj and Aziz were seen engaged in an intense discussion over dinner on Wednesday night at the ongoing SAARC council of ministers meet in Pokhra.

 

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise “goodwill” visit to Pakistan on December 25 last year, with the first such trip in a decade seen as a step towards normalising ties between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

Modi, who announced the trip via Twitter while in Kabul, met in Lahore with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, who was celebrating his birthday and the wedding of a grand-daughter.
