SBP and FIA to sign MoU to curb currency smuggling

ISLAMABAD: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) next week to restrict illegal transport of various currency from the country, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to Governor of SBP Yaseen Anwar ‘ In order to curb the smuggling of foreign currency the MoU is going to be signed through which the placement of staff will be done at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar airports.

“The checking of suit cases will be conducted so that the carriers, carrying suitcases stuffed with dollars can be picked out easily from other passengers”, he added.

He further said that the limit for physically taking dollars out of the country through legal means is $10,000.
