SBP, PBA join hands to make I I Chundrigar Road clean

KARACHI: In a bid to clean up I I Chundrigar Road (Ibrahim Ismail Chundrigar Road) from wall chalking, garbage and other waste, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Pakistan Banks' Association has joined hands to launch a drive on Sunday, ARY News reported.

For the purpose of cleanliness, March 30 (Sunday) will be celebrated as ‘Clean Chundrigar Road-2014’ on the advice of SBP Acting Governor Ashraf Mahmood Wathra.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at State Bank of Pakistan in which Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan will be the chief guest. It will mark the beginning of a year-long campaign to clean Chundrigar Road.

The 2.5-km road is divided into eight sections allocated to eight different banks: Bank Alfalah limited, National Bank of Pakistan, United Bank Limited, Bank Al Habib, Habib Bank Limited, MCB Bank, Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited and JS Bank Limited will participate in the drive. 

Each bank will be responsible for cleanliness of the section assigned to it. The State Bank of Pakistan will be a part of the actual cleaning efforts and will offer assistance and play the co-coordinator role

I I Chundrigar Road is the financial district of Karachi. It is largest financial district of Pakistan and the center of Karachi's banking and financial institutions, it often termed as the ‘Wall Street of Pakistan’.
