A bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk will hear the petition on September 29.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Ishaq Khakwani, had filed the petition through his counsel Irfan Qadir requesting the court to order disqualification of the prime minister for falsely stating in the National Assembly that he had not asked the Army Chief to act as a mediator between the government and PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri to end the political deadlock.

The petitioner alleged, Nawaz Sharif had tried to malign the army in violation of Article 62 of the Constitution and stand disqualified for the public office.
