SC directs Lahore Development Authority to shut down illegal marriage lawns, markets
LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to shut down all the illegal marriage lawns and markets across Lahore, ARY News
The top court directed LDA to provide details of illegal buildings so that the court could order their demolition. It also vowed to make subsidiary courts obligated for not issuing stay order in this regard.
This should be noted that scores of marriage lawns have recently been brought down in Karachi under anti-encroachment drive.
The SC also sought report of illegal expansion of Hameed Latif Hospital. Upon that the hospital administration told that the hospital was surrounded by marriage lawns which was creating parking and other issues for the hospital.
“On every nook and corner such plazas are being built which do not have parking spaces in them,” the court wondered on violation of the law.
According to land law, there must be one floor specified for parking in a plaza.
