SC orders to vacate Constitution Avenue

A five-member larger bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa hearing identical petitions against any possible extra-constitutional step in the country.

The Constitution Avenue of Islamabad has been occupied by the protesters belong to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk ordered to get the Constitution Avenue vacated adding, “We will arrive to the court through the Constitution Avenue.”

The Constitution Avenue is considered one of the most important zones in Islamabad as a number of key government buildings situated along the road including the Presidency, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Supreme Court of Pakistan and other government buildings. The diplomatic enclave in Pakistan’s federal capital hosting foreign embassies also lies close to the area.

The federal capital authorities have declared the all important nerve centre of Pakistani state as Red Zone with maximum security.
