SC summons Tahir-ul-Qadri, Imran Khan

A bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) Nasir-ul-Mulk heard a petition with regard to any possible extra-constitutional act to remove the government. The apex judge said that several lawyers could not reach the court due to the road closure caused by the sit-ins of PAT and PTI.

Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja remarked that it is the right of everyone to stage protests given that it does not violate other’s rights.  He also said that that no one can be allowed to oust a government illegally in the name of basic human rights.

Justice Khawaja added that the constitution provides a mechanism to remove a government. He added that resorting to other methods will be unconstitutional.

“No one can be allowed to spread anarchy in the name of freedom of expression”, he said.

The bench ordered Imran Khan and Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri to appear in the court on Thursday (tomorrow) and to explain their stance to the court.
