KARACHI: A local court on Monday handed over three suspects to police in a case pertaining to the murder of a school principal within the jurisdiction of Soldier Bazaar police station.

Ambreen Fatima, 41, was murdered in what the police described a staged robbery on Dec 10 in Parsi Colony.

Police produced Ali Hassan, the slain principal’s husband, his second wife Sehar Shams and Bilal Shams before the court to seek their physical remand for interrogation.

The investigating officer of the case told the court that suspect Ali orchestrated her wife’s murder and give it colour of robbery.

The suspect confessed to the crime, informing that his second wife and Bilal had nothing to do with his first wife’s murder.

The court granted the physical remand of the suspects until December 28 and directed the IO to present them after expiry of their remand along with a progress report.

The slain principal’s husband had earlier told the police that he along with his wife was returning home when two gunmen riding a motorbike chased and tried to loot valuables from them. When robbers told him to hand his mobile, he put up resistance.

Subsequently, he said the robbers opened fire on them and a bullet hit the woman, leaving her dead.

The police said Ali had secretly married teacher Sehar who was a friend of the victim, Ambreen. Ali and Sehar had been involved in love affair and later, tied knot.
