Security at Jinnah Hospital beefed up after threats to Dr. Asim

KARACHI: Additional contingent of Rangers has been deployed around Jinnah Post Medical Centre (JPMC) following reports of threats to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr. Asim Hussain, who is facing corruption-related cases.

According to sources, security has been intensified at JPMC after threats to close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Dr. Asim, former Petroleum Minister, is currently facing of Rs 460 billion corruption charges along with his accomplices, and involved in misusing of his authority for getting plots allotted fraudulently and encroaching upon state land for expansion of Dr Ziauddin Hospital/Trust, money laundering, illegal gains, kickbacks, commission through fertiliser cartel for illegal curtailment of gas for exploitative price hike and defrauding people in name of charity hospital.

It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Asim Hussain has filed several bail applications which were not approved.

Moreover, upon his return to Pakistan in December 2016, the former president Asif Ali Zardari along with Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah met Dr. Asim Hussain in JPMC to inquire after Dr. Asim’s health.
