Security concerns for Elections 2018: COAS, Bajwa meets Nasirul Mulk

ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasirul Mulk held a meeting at the Prime Minister Office on Monday with Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, to evaluate security procedures for the general elections 2018 by appealing military, paramilitary and law enforcement agencies.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss in detail regarding security arrangements for General Elections 2018, which are scheduled for July 25. Also current military matters were discussed.

The meeting details are yet not revealed to media. However, at a meeting with Chief Election Commi­ssioner Sardar Muhammad Raza, it is declared that army troops will be deployed in and outside all the nearly 85,000 polling stations being established for the upcoming poll while security cameras will be installed at over 20,000 sensitive polling stations.

Previously, General Bajwa and Justice (retd) Mulk held a meeting on June 6, since it was the first meeting after Justice (retd) Mulk was sworn in as caretaker premier, only the country’s current security situation and other matters were discussed.

Nasirul Mulk articulate his contentment over the preparations made by the ECP, and remarked that ensuring the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections was the prime responsibility of the commission.

The premier restate that the federal and provincial governments are committed to providing every possible support to ECP in the discharge of its constitutional obligations.
