Last year singer Selena Gomez, 25 made a revelation to her 134 million followers on Instagram about why she canceled her shows mid-tour and went to into rehab.

“I found out I need a kidney transplant due to my lupus and was recovering” she further stated,  “I can’t thank my best friend Francia Raisa enough, she gave me the ultimate gift and donated her kidney to  me”

Now Francia Raisa, 29 who plays Ana Torres on the hit show Grown-ish, shed lights on her feelings post op and how she and Selena both went through depression because of it.

“My social worker told me it would be hard, the recipient is going to glow, she is going to recover a lot faster than the donor because she is getting something she really needs and you are losing something you don’t need to lose. It’s going to be hard.”

Raisa mentioned “I was not educated about the transplant enough and ironically sometimes it was peaceful to go through and at times I would panic”

According to Raisa, “Selena had some complications with her surgery, and her scars are bigger than mine.” Her kidney turned and broke an artery, she had to go back in for another surgery and they actually had to take a vein out of her leg, so she has a scar on her leg too.they built a wall around her ruptured artery with it .”

While Gomez stated that her life has turned a new leaf after the surgery Raisa has to now take certain measures to overcome the lack of one kidney.

During an acceptance speech for the billboard women of the year award in November 2017. Gomez praised Raisa saying “I think Francia should be getting this award. she saved my life … I feel incredibly lucky to have her as a friend.”
