Senate body opposes participation of govt subsidiaries in 3G auction
ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology proposed that government's subsidiary organizations must not take part in the 3G auction, ARY News reported Thursday.
The standing committee meeting was held with Senator Zahid Khan in the chair. The committee recommended that it should be ensured that no government’s subsidiary organization may take part in the 3G auction. While those mobile companies which are supposed to pay outstanding dues should also be barred from participating in the auction, the committee added.
The committee members said they did not want auction process to halt, but to make it transparent.
Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Dr. Ismail Shah said 3G auction will take place on April 23 as per the Supreme Court orders.
