Senate opposition seeks ISPR explanation on Musharraf statement

ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties in Senate demanded explanation from the ISPR over former president Musharraf's assertion that he enjoyed the support of military, ARY News reported on Friday. 

The opposition senators, People's Party's Farhatullah Babar, ANP's Haji Adeel and others expressed concern over Musharraf's statement during session of the Senate on Friday. PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar said the Inter-Service Public Relations’ should issue explanation over the matter. 

Senator Raja Zafarul Haq of PML-N responded that the defence minister Khawaja Asis had earlier given an explanation on Musharraf’s statement and the ISPR was not obliged to respond to every statement.

Awami National Party’s (ANP) Senator Haji Adeel said the government was interested in other matters with regular foreign tours. 

The matters related with political and security situation of the country were also discussed during the session.
